Sharks NYC Coach John Morris spoke with Sharks TV earlier this week to give an update on how his squad is tracking, heading into the new season.

"I couldn't be happier with where we're at actually," Morris said.

"The boys are coming along together nicely ... there's a lot of new players in the team, we're a young side, but we're certainly a very enthusiastic side.

"I've tried to apply a few things I learned along the way as a player ... I've been making them work really hard."

The 20s side is set down to play a trial match on January 30 at Kogarah against the Dragons, with Morris saying it proves a good chance for his boys to impress prior to the season proper.

"It's the first time the boys will get to pull on the jumper," he said.

"Take the result out of it, we're looking at performance ... certain combinations, seeing what they bring to the side.

"The focus of this trial is to give the guys some really good game time."
