Cronulla five-eighth Jack Bird fronted the media on Wednesday ahead of the side's Round 19 match with the Raiders in Canberra.

Excited by the challenge posed by opposite number Blake Austin, Bird said he and the rest of the Sharks side will be out to stop a Raiders side playing with plenty of confidence.

"Obviously the Raiders have been going alright, they're a bit hot-and-cold, but they had a good win against the Knights on the weekend," he said.

"We can't let the likes of Austin and Wighton slip through us, we've got to keep an eye out on them.

"He's (Austin) in good form at the moment ... we all know what he's capable of."

Bird also discussed the feel amongst the Sharks team after the win against the Dragons, and how he thinks the side will fare heading into the final third of the competition.

Hear what he had to say, with the full interview now playing on Sharks TV.
