The Sharks dominance last week against the depleted Dragons has given the boys a shot of confidence ahead of their next assignment against the Raiders in Canberra this Saturday.

With momentum building and a forward-line firing on all cylinders, the Sharks hope to return from GIO Stadium with the two competition points in what appears likely to be a high-scoring affair if past results are any indication.

Cronulla have won seven of the last ten meetings in Canberra, averaging 27.5pts per game. The Sharks/Raiders dossier stands at 12 wins, 19 losses from 31 starts, since 1982. This included a run of five victories from 2005 to 2009 in the nation’s capital.

Individual records abound in these encounters. Andrew Ettingshausen with 14 leads the Most Total Sharks Tries v Raiders, six of these scored in away fixtures. ET’s scoring prowess came to the fore between 1988 and 1990 when he crossed for six tries in six consecutive games against the Raiders. Prolific point scorer Luke Covell amassed a career total of seven tries, 35 goals in all games against the Raiders and former Cronulla speedster Mick Mullane holds the record for Most Tries Scored in an Away Game v the Raiders, with three tries in our first-ever match against Canberra in 1982. Mick repeated the dose with another hat-trick in the home return clash that same year.

Sharks favourite Michael Gordon holds the record for Most Goals Scored in an Away Game v Canberra, kicking seven at Bruce Stadium in 2013.
