The Newtown Jets have rebounded from two straight losses with an important win over the Manly Sea Eagles in their round 16 clash at Henson Park on Saturday.

The Jets trailed at half time before getting the better of the Manly side in the second half as they ran in five tries in the victory.

With an untired halves pairing due to the absence of regular half Todd Murphy the Jets took a while to take control of the contest, however with Nesiasi Mataitonga and Dallas Wells steering the ship the Newtown team did enough to secure the win and stay in touch with the leading teams in the NSW Cup competition.

It was the first win for the Jets since round 11, with the forwards laying the platform and Nathan Gardner outstanding at fullback.

The Jest moved up one place to seventh on the NSW Cup ladder and now have the Bye and a week off in the next round.
