There is nothing else like the sight and sound of a packed Remondis Stadium and this year Shark Crew members are doing their part to help create an atmosphere louder and prouder than any other.

Shark Crew member and Shark Tank centre-piece Mark West has been a Cronulla fan for near on four decades and in that time he’s seen and heard the very best of the Sharks supporters.

In bringing drums, flags and a resounding level of noise to create an intimidating atmosphere for travelling teams and supporters, West told sharks.com.au that the Shark Tank is going about restoring the passion of years gone by.

“I want to get that atmosphere back at Shark Park to what it was like when I was a child,” said West.

“It was just loud and proud. There was a lot of cheering, flag-waving, a lot of atmosphere and noise.

“We want to be loud and proud right around the stadium and that starts from the Shark Tank.”

The Shark Tank and Shark Crew initiatives have caught on amongst the Cronulla supporters and increasingly more and more fans are actively showing their support in cheering and singing.

“It’s certainly been getting busier each week and it’s only going to get bigger and better. It’s growing, it’s new, it’s just a full-on atmosphere,” West said.

“The Shark tank is full of yelling, screaming, loyal supporters. There’s the set of drums there to bop along to. It’s on the go. It’s the place to be for atmosphere.

“We’re trying to let the boys know that we’re here for them – that’s what it’s all about.”

West and his fellow Shark Tank members have certainly caught the attentions of the Cronulla squad, as evidenced at the Sharks win over the Roosters back in round 13.

Sharks backrower Wade Graham said his thanks to the supporters, in telling Sharks TV that the noise and atmosphere created by the fans helped the boys home in a tight affair.

“There’s nothing better than playing at a packed crowd at home, the hills were rocking, the stands were rocking,” Graham said.

“We could really feel it, there’s nothing more I love than playing at home.”
