Shark Crew member Lyn Gannon has been a Cronulla tragic for near on 50 years and she believes that the club is on the brink of achieving something special.

The 53-year-old says she has supported the club since its inception in 1967, having been raised by her parents who still reside on Woolooware road.

In working alongside the club’s membership staffers, Lyn and her fellow Shark Crew volunteers have played a role in seeing the club reach 10,000 members again in 2015.

“That was fairly hectic for the first three rounds because everyone was picking up their tickets and their packs. It was pretty full on,” Lyn said.

“But that’s (10,000 member milestone) the reason it’s worth it. I feel the Sharks are on the cusp of greatness, and I just wanted to be involved when that comes to fruition.

“It’s been good, and I’m enjoying it enormously. We’ve been receiving nice feedback, and that gives me a little buzz.”

The Shark Crew offers fans and members of the Cronulla club an opportunity to become a working part of the organisation. Lyn encourages other Sharks fans, those much alike herself, to join the Crew to assist the club that they love.

“It’s just a good way to get more involved in the club and help the Sharks achieve what I’d like to see them achieve,” said Lyn.

“Many hands make light work, so if you get involved, hopefully great things will come from that.”

The Shark Crew is just one of the many initiatives implemented by Group CEO Lyall Gorman on the quest to re-engage the club with its devout and passionate fan base.

Lyn paid credit to the work and vision of Gorman and the club, in saying that the Crew stands to ensure a brighter future for the Cronulla Sharks.

“It’s a bit like turning a battleship – nothings going to happen overnight – but hopefully it will happen, and I can see the positivity around what he’s trying to achieve,” she said.

“That will translate to more community involvement in the Shire.”
