Seven Cronulla Sharks junior representative players have been selected to attend Origin Pathway Camps ahead of this year’s State of Origin series.
Having performed strongly in the Harold Matthews and SG Ball competitions respectively, the junior Sharks are now in line to make appearances at State level.
If successful at the Camp, the junior Sharks will play in the U16s or U18s Origin games, which will be held as curtain raisers at two of this year’s Origin fixtures.
Vinh Tran, Development Manager at the Sharks, says the juniors will take a lot out of the Camps.
"It's a great opportunity for these boys as they will get an insight into what it takes to be a NSW Origin player,” said Tran.
“The focus for these camps is not just skills on the field but things like mental toughness and leadership.
“They will get to mix with some of the best players in their age group from across NSW, as well as get coaching from the NSW Origin staff and advice from NSW legends like Brad Fittler.”
Although well aware of the quality of talent spread across the NSWRL junior representative leagues, Tran is confident that the seven Sharks will do the club proud.
"All of the boys who are part of the camp have been playing terrific footy for us in the junior rep competition so they all have a really good shot at being selected,” he said.
“Regardless of how they go with final selection, it is great to see seven of our local junior players get some worthy recognition."
The Cronulla Sharks congratulate the players on their Camp selection, and wish them the very best in earning a Blues call-up.
