The Cronulla Sharks have launched the ‘Sharkcrew’ program ahead of this week’s opening round match against the Raiders.

Aligning with the work of Group CEO Lyall Gorman, the program will serve to better the game-day experience for those present at Remondis Stadium fixtures.

At the launch held at Sharkies Leagues on Sunday evening, almost 60 members and fans were inducted into the Sharkcrew; an initiative that will run throughout the 2015 season and beyond.

Sharkcrew Members will assist in the smooth operations of merchandise and membership stands; as well as a focus on corporate, community, digital and events sectors.

Jessica Goddard, Group Manager of Community, Game Day and Events at the Sharks, told those at the launch that the program stands to be a success for the Crew and fellow Sharks fans alike.

“It’s awesome for us. We’re going to do some really great things this year,” Ms Goddard said. “Obviously Lyall (Gorman) has come in and done a huge amount of work … about who we are and why we’re here and what we’re going to do.”

Reconnecting with members and fans has been seen as vital cog in Gorman’s long-term vision for the Sharks, and Goddard maintained that the efforts to re-brand the Sharks as ‘more than just a football club’ with a community focus, would only be further benefitted by the Sharkcrew.

“What’s important to us and who we are, and who we are not, are key in not only how we conduct ourselves, but in the decisions we make,” she said. “How we run game-day, the events we put on, how we deal with people.

“That’s going to become an integral part of our organisation and an integral part of the Sharkcrew as well.”

Sharks members and fans are encouraged to look out for Sharkcrew members present at this Sunday’s match at Remondis Stadium.
