As a reward for his outstanding efforts in 2014 Sharks young gun Valentine Holmes has been selected in the Junior Kangaroos train-on squad for the upcoming Junior Test (Under 20's) against New Zealand.
Holmes was a standout for the Sharks NYC team, then elevated into the NSW Cup squad before going on to play the last six games in the NRL.
The Townsville-product improved with every outing in the top grade and looked dangerous every time he touched the football in the loss to the Tigers, scoring two tries on the Sharks right wing.
While he played wing in the NRL side Holmes is equally comfortable a fullback which is where he played the majority of his football with the Sharks SG Ball then under-20’s side.
The Junior Kangaroos v Junior Kiwis match will be played on Saturday, October 18 at Mt Smart Stadium, Auckland, with more players to be added to the squad as teams are eliminated from the Holden Cup Finals series.
A final squad will be announced following the Holden Cup Grand Final on October 5.
