The Sharks can confirm that Isaac De Gois has sought and been granted a release from his current contract with the club, effective immediately.
The Parramatta Eels will today announce De Gois will join them for the remainder of this year and for the 2015 and 2016 seasons.
De Gois informed his Cronulla teammates of his decision last night following the match against the Dragons.
Sharks CEO Steve Noyce via a statement surrounding the De Gois situation, explained the two and a half year contract being offered by the Eels was something they couldn't match and with the salary cap money made available by his departure would now enter the player market in an effort to bolster the current Sharks roster.
"Isaac has been an outstanding servant to the Cronulla club and is a quality person," Noyce said. "While disappointed to see him leave, with the contract offer he has been made we felt we should grant the release and allow him to take up this opportunity.
"What it also does for us is free up room in our salary cap and enables us to get on the front foot in regards to recruiting players for both this season and for the years to come."
