It was a tough night for the Sharks last Friday when soundly beaten in both Matthews Cup and SG Ball by the Sydney Roosters.

The Matts Cup Sharks showed some positive signs during their round for match up but ultimately weren’t quite good enough on the night in going down 22-10, however for the SG Ball team it was back to the drawing board this week after suffering a 60-6 defeat at the hands of the Roosters.

The good news is however that a lot can happen in a week and the two Sharks junior rep sides head to Campbelltown this weekend confident of much-improved showings when they take on the Western Suburbs Magpies in round five matches.

For the Matthews Sharks the match is crucial to their finals chances. Currently on four competition points and sitting equal 7th (9th on for and against), the Sharks can climb into the top eight and into contention for a finals berth ahead of their run home to the finals.

Their opponents the Magpies are currently sixth on the ladder with six points.

The equation is a similar one for the Ball Sharks, also ninth on for and against, equal with Wests on five points, a win would set the under 18 Sharks up nicely for the final four rounds of the competition.

Earlier this week respective coaches Darren Capovilla (Matthews Cup) and Darren Quince (SG Ball) named teams to play the Magpies, with team lists to follow.

The Matthews Cup match kicks off at 12 noon, the SG Ball at 1.30pm and in an added bonus for Sharks fans the NSW Cup Sharks clash with the Wests Tigers immediately after, with that match kicking off at 3.00pm.
