Some 16 teams, representing a wide range of businesses and Sharks corporate supporters, enjoyed a day of footy fun during October at the inaugural Sharks Oztag Corporate Challenge.

The teams, featuring both men and women Oztag players of varying ages and abilities, was taken out by Victor Sports, the Sharks sports medical, tape and rehabilitation appliance suppliers.

In an exciting tournament Grand Final, the team from Victor Sports scored after the siren to tie the score up against the Shore Hire squad and force overtime, before winning the Oztag Corporate Challenge with another try in sudden-death extra time.

It was a fitting finale to a big day of footy fun, with the after-party continuing on into the early evening and night as the teams dissected what worked, what didnt and how they might improve on their showings next time around.

The inaugural Oztag Corporate Challenge left some competitors a little worse for wear but saw all depart with a host of fond memories and vowing to return bigger and better than ever.

And while the Oztag Challenge was enjoyed by all concerned it did have a specific purpose, that being to raise funds for the Sharks High Performance Unit (HPU).

As a result of monies raised on the day the Sharks were able to purchase much-needed gym equipment for the HPU (as seen in the photograph), which is now being utilised by the clubs NRL and NYC Under-20s squads.

Inclunded amongst the items added to the existing equipment in the Sharks NRL HPU was a state of the art treadmill, two stationary bicylces and an itonic vibration plate machine, plus new free-weight plates and bars.

The Sharks would like to thank Australian Oztag Sports Association for their assistance on the day. Their expertise and experience in running such events proved to be an invaluable asset.

The Sharks were also extremely appreciative of the contribution and support shown by the following businesses, club sponsors and corporate partners who participated in the Sharks Oztag Corporate Challenge. Special mention to Chill Tech Services who were the major sponsor.
