Two days of fun at junior clinics

Between NRL training sessions, the PointsBet Stadium field turned into a kids club late this week with more than 220 happy youngsters meeting their idols at clinics across two days.

On Thursday, the Sharks Have Heart team hosted 170 participants split over Junior Jaws (footy) and Mini Mermaids (cheerleading) school holiday sessions presented by Westfield Miranda.

Catering for ages 5-12, the Junior Jaws attendees had a ball as they were put through their paces in drills and games led by NRL Game Development staff.

Much to the kids' delight, Sharks players including Briton Nikora, Tom Hazelton, Jack Williams, Sam Stonestreet, Oregon Kaufusi, Jayden Berrell, Emma Tonegato and Jada Taylor joined in the fun before signing autographs and posing for photos.

In a terrific display of club spirit during Sharks Have Heart Round – a celebration of community impact – the NRL players all volunteered their time on a day off.

The Mini Mermaids clinic unearthed some future Sharks cheerleaders, with the little dancers learning new routines from the Minespec Mermaids squad.

Having worked up a hunger, the kids were provided with a sausage sizzle lunch.

NRLW star Tonegato, the Sharks Equal Access Program Lead, facilitated a Junior Mega Jaws disability clinic on Friday afternoon with about 55 attendees.

Fellow NRLW guns Taylor and Quincy Dodd were there, along with NRL squad members Kayal Iro and Max Bradbury, to put a smile on the participants' faces and help them navigate the drills and games in a safe, inclusive environment.
