Don't worry, Taj Ford did manage to escape unharmed from a full team dogpile after he kicked not one, but TWO field goals on Saturday.

The 21-year-old was cold as ice when his team went behind by one point with seven minutes remaining, helping his side to a 26-25 victory in their Minor semi-final against the North Sydney Bears.

Now Newtown's attention turns towards the Knights in a preliminary final at Jubilee Stadium this Saturday.

The Jets entered the finals as arguably the most in-form side despite sitting in 4th on the ladder.

That momentum began after their last loss in Round 20, which just so happened to be against Newcastle, and was Newtown's third straight loss, all by just two points.

On an 8-game win streak now, but up against a Knights side that's beaten them twice this season, going down in Round 11 also 44-22.

The Jets' win streak is all the more impressive because multiple team regulars have moved in and out of the side to play for the Sharks' NRL team over that period.

Newtown have knocked out the Warriors (who were the reigning premiers) in Week 1 of Finals, then the second-placed North Sydney Bears last weekend.

Now up against a Knights outfit that finished the season in 3rd on the Knock-On Effect NSW Cup ladder, both are fighting for a place in the Grand Final against the Penrith Panthers.

Kick-off is scheduled for 3:15pm at Jubilee Stadium, Kogarah on Saturday.
