NRLW Match Preview: Round 11 v Dragons

In hopes of finishing up their season on a high, and with back-to-back wins, the Sharks will face the Dragons, in a local derby contest, at Allianz Stadium on Saturday night.

Despite a finals campaign being out of reach, Cronulla head into their last round following a gusty win over the ditch. In what was a rollercoaster game, the leaders stood up when it mattered, turning the match around, and bringing it home.

Though a Sharks home game, the contest will be played at Moore Park, ahead of the NRL Sharks v Cowboys elimination final, their first NRLW and NRL double-header this season.

On a positive note, star winger Georgia Ravics is set to play her first game since round six where she suffered a calf injury. This will be a huge inclusion for Cronulla, with the experience and reliability she brings to the side an asset the squad has missed.

“It definitely has been hard to watch from the sidelines, to not be able to contribute to try and help the girls,” the number five expressed.

In a similar position to the home side, the Red V have also just two wins under their belt, and sit in 12th place, one below the black, white and blue, this battle will be a fight to avoid bottom spot.

“No one wants to finish at the bottom of the ladder, and I think these are the games that can go either way, it’s always a really big rivalry between us and the Dragons,” Ravics added.

An out-of-the-ordinary decision to trial a smaller ball for the NRLW will also be conducted in this contest. The NRL are experimenting to see whether the quality of the women’s game is improved if the ball is smaller.

“As a player, the ball is the tool of the trade, and to change that with only a couple of training sessions to get ready is obviously going to be a challenge for us but it is what it is,” Ravics said.

In 2025, the sides met in the first of two Indigenous rounds, and the Sharks came away victors, but the teams are clearly different and have faced far more adversity this year than last, so the result is unpredictable.

Cronulla’s vice-captain Quincy Dodd will match up against ex-teammate Brooke Anderson. In her first season at the Dragons, Anderson has taken on the role of captain, and Dodd has been arguably the Sharks standout player for 2026.
