The Newtown Jets produced a commanding performance in The Knock-On Effect NSW Cup, running out 36-12 winners over the St. George Illawarra Dragons in Round 23 at Collegians Sporting Complex in Wollongong. The Jets hit the ground running with Niwhai Puru crossing in the eighth minute following a slick line-break from Sam Stonestreet down the left edge. Chris Vea'ila then crossed himself to stretch the lead to 28-6, before Joseph O'Neill injected some fight into the Dragons with a barnstorming solo effort to make it 28-12 with 16 minutes remaining.
A Riley Pollard penalty goal pushed the margin to 30-12, before Tuku Hau Tapuha put the finishing touches on a comprehensive Jets display, crashing over from close range to seal a 36-12 victory. Pollard finished five from six from the tee in a polished individual display.

- Sam Stonestreet was the standout performer of the afternoon, finishing with two tries and a try assist. The 24-year-old was a constant threat down the Jets' left edge.
- Cyrus Stanley-Traill was a positive in the Dragons performance, crossing in the first half and continuing to show why he is regarded as one of the more exciting young forwards in their system. The Hurstville United junior, whose uncles wore the red V, looks certain to feature prominently in 2027.

With the Dragons trailing 18-nil and threatening to collapse completely, Stanley-Traill's try just before half-time was the moment St. George Illawarra needed most. It cut the deficit to 18-6 and gave the Dragons a foothold heading into the break. However, the Dragons were unable to build on that momentum in the second half.
