The Sharks NRLW side will run out this afternoon wearing a special black, blue and neon pink Women in League Round jersey.
But it's more than a change of colour that's uplifting the side, they've swapped their last names on the back, for the names of women who inspire them.
Read below who they are playing for, and the reason why.
1. Jada Taylor - Sonia – her mum
This is really special because whenever I talk about football, I always talk about my dad and my brother and how they inspired me, but when things go wrong, she’s the first one I go to. She’s been there for me through everything, and I’ll forever be grateful for my beautiful mum. So, it’s amazing to represent and celebrate her. My mum is the only other Sharks fan in my family, and she’s driving from Tamworth to be there for me. Love you mum.
2. Cassie Staples - Leesh – her sister
I’m lucky to have so many incredible women in my life but choosing my sister was easy. She’s been there from the very beginning of my sporting journey, supporting me through every high and every low, and has always been such a positive influence in my life.
Watching her become an amazing mum to the most beautiful kids has been an absolute privilege. The love, patience and care she pours into her family inspires me every day. She’s kind, fun, resilient and endlessly loving, and the way she shows up for her family is something I truly admire. She’s someone I’ve always looked up to, and I hope that one day, when I become a mum, I can be even half the woman she is.
3. Tiana Penitani Gray - Renee – her mum
She’s beautiful, she’s the best. My mum has been my biggest supporter since the day I was born. She’s always at my games. She was there in the pouring rain last week against the Broncos, and she’s just always in my corner and is a big reason why I am the person I am today. I’ve got a lot of love for you, mum, and appreciate all your support.
4. Annessa Biddle - keeping it a surprise for when she runs out.
5. Georgia Ravics - Meg – her best friend
This week I’m playing for Meg. Best friends since we were 12, we’ve walked through every season of life together, my biggest supporter through every high and low. Now, watching her step into motherhood with so much love has inspired me more than she knows.
6. Georgia Hannaway - Michelle – her mum
I will be wearing my mum's name on my jersey this weekend. Mum is an amazing mother and the hardest-working woman I know. I aspire to be just like her.
7. Chantay Kiria-Ratu - keeping it a surprise for when she runs out.
8. Ellie Johnston - Vicki - her mum
I chose Mum because she has overcome so much adversity with incredible strength and resilience. No matter what life throws at her, she’s always kept going. She’s also my best friend, and I’m lucky to have someone so loving, supportive and inspiring in my life.
9. Quincy Dodd - Carole – her mum
She's always been my biggest supporter and has done so much for me throughout my life, both on and off the field. She's made countless sacrifices to help me chase my goals, always encouraged me to keep going, and has been there through every high and low. I wouldn't be where I am today without her love, support, and belief in me. Wearing her name is a small way to say thank you for everything she's done and to show how much she means to me. So proud to have my beautiful Mum.
10. Caitlan Johnston-Green - keeping it a surprise for when she runs out.
11. Manilita Takapautolo - Elina – her mum
I'll be wearing my mum's name. She has sacrificed so much to give me every opportunity and has stood by me through every high and low without ever giving up on me. Wearing her name is a small way of saying thank you for everything she's done, and to honour the love, strength, and support she's always shown me.
12. China Polata - Malanya – her mum
I chose my mum to be on the back of my jersey because she’s always been there for me, even if she never really understood footy. She may not have helped on the field, but she’s played a huge part in helping me become the person I am today. I’m stronger because of her, and she’s truly my best friend. It was her birthday on Wednesday, so this is my special gift to her - because she’s always made me feel so loved and special. This one’s for you, Mum.
13. Tegan Dymock - Leah – her mum
I chose my mum because she has sacrificed so much for me throughout my life. Ever since I was little, she has always been there, driving me to training sessions, travelling all over Sydney to watch me play, no matter the time of day. I’m so proud to call her my mum. I’m incredibly grateful for everything she has done for me and our family, always putting us first and doing everything she could to give us the best. When I run out on Saturday, this jersey is for you, Mum. Thank you for everything.
14. Madison Ashby - keeping it a surprise for when she runs out.
15. Anne-Marie Kiria-Ratu - keeping it a surprise for when she runs out.
16. Najvada George - Carmen – her mum
The reason I picked my mum is because she is such a strong woman. Everything that my mum has been through, she is so strong. The best mum to us 4 kids, the best grandmother to my niece and the best wife to my dad. She shows up to every important occasion, and she is my biggest support, and I love her.
17. Jaydika Tafua - Jahnea – her mum
I picked my mum because she has always been my biggest supporter, she's someone I can always rely on and will be in my corner no matter what. She is the hardest-working and most selfless woman I know to this day. Having her name on this jersey is a small way of showing how grateful I am to have her as my mum.
18. Jacinta Carter - Loretta – her mum
I’m wearing my mum’s name on my jersey because she’s my best friend and the most important person in my life. I wouldn’t be where I am today without her. She’s been my biggest supporter through every high and low, and she helped shape me into the woman I am today. Wearing her name is my way of honouring everything she’s done for me. I love her more than words can say.
19. Leilani Ahsam - Danielle – her mum
I picked her because she is the strongest person I know and has always gone above and beyond for my brother and me. She means so much to me, and I don't know where I would be without her. Everything I have achieved this far is because of her.
20. Koffi Brookfield - Cindy – her mum
I chose my mum because she’s always been my biggest supporter. She’s made so many sacrifices for me, always believed in me, and has been there through every high and low. I wouldn’t be where I am today without her, so it means a lot to honour her this way.
21. Courtney Tyrell - Ramona – her mum
I picked her because she is one of many special people in my life, but I haven't seen her since Christmas, so I feel that if I've made the sacrifices to leave home to play footy, I've got to play hard for her. Love you mum.
