Flegg Sharks power to victory over ladder-leading Dragons.

The Jersey Flegg Sharks have bounced back in style following a last-start loss to Manly, with the under-21 Cronulla side scoring a dominant victory over the ladder-leading Dragons.

Showing a hunger somewhat missing from their performance last week, the young Sharks powered to a 42-18 victory, led by try-scoring doubles to backrower Yuri Hromow and centre Prestyn Laine-Sietu.

Early errors and overturned possession gave the away side plenty of opportunity, however similarly, poor discipline from St George saw them concede a penalty, then a six again, and the it was Ethan Van Gelderen who couldn’t be stopped, the Sharks second-rower burrowing his way under the posts.

Bryce Sait converted, giving the Sharks a 6-0 lead and an early boost of confidence.

Showing his speed and skill Hromow saw a gap on the right edge to surge across, and minutes later, quick ball movement allowed centre Prestyn Laine-Sietu to score his teams third.

With Sait slotting both, the Sharks were up by 18.

The Dragons would finally get their first four pointer of the afternoon through winger Toby Rumble, who swept up a grubber kick and when Marley McLaren slotted the goal it was 18-6 Sharks.

Laine-Sietu would score almost a replica of his previous try, then on the stroke of half time  Connor Sadler managed to snatch a four pointer with the siren sounding, with teams going to th break with the Sharks ahead 22-12.

A stellar catch by Richard Whalebone in the corner early in the second period saw the Sharks extend the lead to 14 points, then in the 63rd minute, a monstrous bomb from Sait caused a  Dragons error, with Nikora Williams sprinting through to collect the bounce and dive over for a try.

In capping a first-class performance, Hromow flew past three red and white jerseys to dive under the posts and when Sait slotted the goal, the home teams lead was extended to 38-12.

A 40 metre run by Zachariah Nachar, set up Rumble for his second of the day, however topping off a convincing victory, Pharrell Gray crashed through three Dragon defenders to complete the scoring in what was a much-improved afternoon of footy at Ocean Protect Stadium.

Now sitting in fifth place the Sharks will take on the seventh placed Warriors in Auckland next Saturday.
