The scorer of one of just two NSW tries in game one, Ellie Johnston has again been named in the NSW Women’s Origin side to take on Queensland in game two of the series.
Johnston was a power of strength for the Blues in the series opener, with her four-pointer helping her side draw level, before NSW powered ahead late in the contest in claiming a narrow victory.
However, while Johnston will suit up again, her Sharks teammate Tiana Penitani Gray won’t be in Brisbane for the second match of the series after being ruled out with a knee injury.
No time frame has yet been provided for Penitani Gray’s recovery, although the injury seems likely to rule her out for the remainder of the Origin series.
Penitani-Gray will now undergo a rehabilitation process in getting herself ready for the start of the upcoming NRLW season.
Chantay Kiria Ratu, after an impressive debut, will again represent Queensland, with Quincy Dodd named on the extended bench for the NRL Sky Blues.
The Westpac NSW Blues Women won the opening game against Queensland 11-6 at McDonald Jones Stadium, Newcastle to take a 1-0 lead in the series, while following Game Two in Brisbane, Game Three will be played at Cbus Super Stadium, Gold Coast on Thursday 28 May.
The Westpac NSW Blues Women claimed the Ampol Women’s State of Origin Shield last year with a 2-1 win over Queensland.
