Australian international Ellie Johnston has recommitted to the Sharks until the end of 2027 after inking a new one-year deal.
The dominant front-rower was already under contract for 2026 but has moved quickly to extend her time in black, white and blue.
Johnston has played 33 of her 48 matches for Cronulla, where she's established herself as one of the NRLW's most powerful and consistent forwards.
After being on the cusp of representative honours for some time, the 25-year-old ascended to the starting NSW Sky Blues and Jillaroos line-ups in 2025.
"I'm so grateful to be able to spend another year at the Sharks," Johnston said.
"Cronulla is my home away from home and it's exactly where I want to be.
"I've been at the Sharks since 2023 and I've grown so much as a player and a person. I love the community here – the club, Tony (Herman) and his coaching crew, and the girls who are my best mates.
"I can't wait to see what this team will achieve. We've been growing year by year and I know there is a premiership around the corner. I can't wait to be part of that."
Sharks coach Tony Herman sang Johnston's praises, reiterating her value to a team that is hunting a premiership after back-to-back finals appearances.
"Ellie has not only developed into the leader of our forward pack but one of the most fearsome front-rowers across the competition," Herman began.
"Her power, skill and work ethic through the middle are invaluable and her prime years are still to come. Ellie is a much-loved member of our squad and we're delighted to know she'll be with us until at least the end of 2027."
Hailing from Coomba Park on the NSW mid coast, Johnston recorded three tries, 138 average metres and 38 tackle breaks throughout 13 matches last season.
