Hannaway signs on until end of '27

The Sharks are pleased to announce Queensland State of Origin playmaker Georgia Hannaway will remain at the club until at least the end of 2027 after signing a one-year NRLW extension.

Hannaway arrived at Cronulla in 2024, earning the club's NRLW Rookie of the Year award and helping the team reach their maiden Grand Final.

The 25-year-old is a dynamo in several positions, posing a constant threat for opposition defences whether she's playing in the halves or at hooker.

Already under contract for the upcoming season, the Maroons representative is delighted to have her future secured in black, white and blue.

"Re-signing with the Sharks was a no-brainer for me," Hannaway said.

"I love the club, I love the team and I love being in the Shire.

"I absolutely love the culture and positive energy we have in this team. I really adore the way we all light up when we see each other.

"This year I'm excited for us to take our game to the next level and show everyone what Sharks footy is made of."

Sharks coach Tony Herman is thrilled to continue working with the Brisbane-born Hannaway, who recorded two tries and seven try assists last year.

"Georgia is a natural footballer with phenomenal instincts," Herman said.

"She's quickly become one of the elite talents in our game, having earned her State of Origin debut last year after just one NRLW season.

"Scarily, Georgia still has a lot of improvement to come. It's exciting to think about what she could achieve as a Shark over the next two years."

Hannaway selflessly shifted from her favoured five-eighth position into dummy-half in the latter half of the 2025 campaign to cover for the injured Quincy Dodd.

While she adapted brilliantly, scoring the match-sealing try in a semi-final win over the Cowboys, the former rugby sevens prodigy could reclaim the No.6 jersey with Emma Verran set to miss the season after announcing her pregnancy.

Hannaway has notched up three tries and 17 goals for Cronulla in 20 games.
