Junior Representative Results | Round 5

Cronulla's Lisa Fiaola and Tarsha Gale sides are perched at the pointy end of the ladder after impressive victories over the Illawarra Steelers at the Sharks Academy on Saturday morning.

However, their Harold Matthews and SG Ball Cup counterparts copped a blow to their finals aspirations after falling to the Roosters at Ocean Protect Stadium.

Harold Matthews Cup

Sharks 26 (William Webber, Ryan Lillis, Nate Horsey, Logan Longbottom, Xavier Young; Koa Cooper three goals) def by Roosters 32

MATCH CENTRE

A late comeback wasn't enough for the Under 17 Sharks, who now sit in 14th position. Having gone into half-time locked at 12-all, a second-half lapse saw Cronulla suddenly trailing by 20 points after 42 minutes. They regained their rhythm and could have levelled the scores at the death with a converted try, but the Roosters scrambled well enough to hold them out and secure the win.

SG Ball Cup

Sharks 6 (Oliver Lester try; Callum Grantham goal) def by Roosters 38

MATCH CENTRE

When fullback Oliver Lester crossed to help put the Sharks ahead 6-4 after 13 minutes, it appeared the hosts were up for the fight against the undefeated Roosters. That was unfortunately as good as things got for Cronulla, with the ladder leaders kicking clear after taking a 16-6 advantage into half-time. A head knock to captain Tom Dellow further soured the result for the Sharks.

Lisa Fiaola Cup

Sharks 40 (Shaleah Field two, Ruby Seitula two, Lata-Rose Faamasa, Tahli Weigand, Eden Edwards tries; Tahli Weigand six goals) def Steelers 10

MATCH CENTRE

Cronulla's point-scoring spree continued as they posted seven tries to run away with a commanding win against the Steelers. The game was in the balance with two tries apiece in the first half, but the Sharks went into overdrive to clock up their third victory on the trot and move into fourth place on differential. The red-hot Under 17 girls have recorded 164 points in their past three outings.

Tarsha Gale Cup

Sharks 18 (Julliana Kolio, Koffi Brookfield two tries; Ella Ropata three goals) def Steelers 14

MATCH CENTRE

A late try to captain Koffi Brookfield clinched a thrilling victory for the Under 19 Sharks girls, pushing them into third spot on the table. Cronulla overcame the sin-binning of Milla Caine in the first half to finish over the top of the Steelers, with Brookfield's second try with two minutes remaining sealing the result.
