Cronulla's Junior Representative squads completed the pre-season with strong displays at the Sharks Academy on Saturday, finalising their preparation for Round 1 matches in a fortnight's time.
In their third and final trial outings, the Harold Matthews (Under 17) and SG Ball (U19) men faced the Bulldogs while the Lisa Fiaola (U17) and Tarsha Gale (U19) women tackled the Bears in warm conditions on the Australia Day long weekend.
The Brad Kelly-coached Harold Matthews side showed promise in a valiant 16-8 defeat (four tries to two) against Canterbury, while Chad Townsend's SG Ball troops fought fire with fire in a 24-all draw (four tries apiece).
Andrew Fifita's Tarsha Gale outfit recorded a solid 12-all draw (three tries apiece) against North Sydney. But it was the Lisa Fiaola Sharks, coached by Isaac Michael, who delivered the highlight on a fantastic day of football, putting the Bears to the sword in a 32-0 demolition featuring eight tries.
The Under 16 and Under 18 men's development teams also took on the Bulldogs, showcasing the wealth of emerging talent in the Sutherland Shire.
Having also played trials against the Eels and Western Suburbs/Wests Tigers, all four Sharks Junior Representative teams will officially kick off their campaigns against the Knights at Maitland Sports Ground on Sunday, February 8.
