Taylor recommits to Sharks until end of ‘27

Speed machine Jada Taylor will light up the field for the Sharks long into the future after extending her contract until the end of 2027.

The classy fullback made a strong return from an ACL injury this year, producing two tries, three try assists and eight line breaks in just six matches.

An inaugural member of Cronulla's NRLW squad, the 22-year-old's best is undoubtedly still to come as she targets a breakout 2026 campaign.

"Being such a young girl when I first came into the program, the Sharks have felt like my first home," Taylor said upon re-signing.

"We're building something very special, and we've gone well the last couple of years, but I won't be satisfied until we win a premiership.

"I've put my body on the line for this club and I wouldn't have it any other way. I'm really grateful they signed me as a fresh 19-year-old who'd played one NRLW game. I want to repay the club, Tony (Herman) and all the girls."

Sharks coach Tony Herman commended Taylor's resilience while highlighting her attacking prowess and work ethic as major weapons for his squad moving forward.

"Jada showed glimpses of her brilliance when she returned this season, but excitingly, she's still nowhere near her full potential," Herman said.

"On her day, she's one of the competition's elite fullbacks with skill and speed that few people can match. She's endured her fair share of setbacks and, with some overdue luck on her side, we can't wait to watch her excel in the years to come."

After more than a year on the sidelines, Taylor had an instant impact as she slotted into Cronulla's side off the bench against the Warriors in Round 8.

The one-time Indigenous All Stars representative reclaimed her No.1 jersey the following week and never let it go, bringing boundless energy to help Cronulla beat the Cowboys in an elimination final before bowing out against the Roosters.

Hailing from Tamworth, NSW, Taylor is eager to share the re-signing news with her friends and family back home.

"I was a baby when I first moved away and my family were extremely proud when I signed a contract with the Sharks," she said.

"I'm excited to go back and tell them I've signed an extension! There's a lot more Sharks fans in Tamworth now."
