And then there were two.
The Melbourne Storm are into an 11th grand final in 20 years and will square off against the Brisbane Broncos, who produced an epic comeback to down the Panthers in the second preliminary final.
With Cameron Munster majestic and Jahrome Hughes all class in his comeback, the Storm outlasted a gutsy Sharks outfit to give themselves a shot at making amends for last year's grand final defeat to the Panthers.
For large parts of Sunday's clash at Suncorp Stadium it seemed the Storm would again be facing in Penrith in the decider at Accor Stadium but the Broncos came from the clouds to overturn a 14-0 deficit, getting home on the back of a late Deine Mariner try and ice cool conversion from Adam Reynolds.
The Panthers were brave in their pursuit of a fifth consecutive title, climbing back from last spot after 12 rounds to finish seventh and then down the Warriors and Bulldogs to make it into a sixth straight preliminary final.
Broncos v Panthers - Finals Week 3, 2025
They looked to have the Broncos' measure at half-time on Sunday but Reece Walsh, Payne Haas and Kotoni Staggs stood tall as the home side rode a wave of emotion from their fans at The Cauldron.
The last time the Broncos and Storm met in the grand final was 2006 when Darren Lockyer led Brisbane to a 15-8 triumph to wrap up the club's sixth premiership.
Storm v Sharks - Finals Week 3, 2025
The Storm have been regular visitors to the big dance in the past decade, winning the title in 2017 and 2020 and finishing runners-up in 2016, 2018 and 2020.
The NRL grand final will be broadcast live on the Nine Network, Fox League, Kayo Sports, 9NOW and Sky NZ.
