Sharks in rarefied air with five senior teams in finals

In an outstanding achievement which highlights the strength of the club's pathways, the Sharks are the only team to qualify for the finals in all five senior competitions this season.

After booking a place in the Harvey Norman NSW Women's Premiership (HNWP) playoffs over the weekend, Cronulla have reached the finals in every grade including NRL, NRLW, NSW Cup (via the Newtown Jets) and Jersey Flegg.

The feat means the Sharks can lay claim to the unofficial 2025 "Club Championship", with the organisation performing strongly from top to bottom.

Adding to the feat, Cronulla are also the only Sydney club to qualify for the finals in all four women's competitions, which encompasses the Lisa Fiaola and Tarsha Gale junior representative teams along with NRLW and HNWP.

"After having four senior teams make the finals last season, it's testament to the hard work and planning of our coaches, staff and players at all levels that we've managed to better that result," Sharks CEO Dino Mezzatesta said.

"We place an emphasis on developing talent, with the goal of having players go right through our pathways to represent the Sharks in the top grade. The systems we've put in place are paying dividends and have set us up for sustained success.

"We are excited to see our teams perform in the finals and hope we can add a few trophies to our cabinet over the next few weeks. I know Sharks Members and fans will passionately support our squads as they push for the ultimate prize.

"Thanks to our loyal sponsors who have been with us on the journey and provided invaluable support. We're extremely proud of all our partners across the grades."

While the Jets – Cronulla's men's feeder team – were unable to defend their NSW Cup title after being eliminated by Canberra in week one of the finals, the remaining Sharks teams are still firmly in premiership contention.

The Sharks will enjoy a huge day on Saturday with the NRL and NRLW teams facing the Raiders and Cowboys in respective sudden-death blockbusters.

Cronulla's NRL side advanced to week two of the finals with a gritty 20-10 victory against the Roosters at home over the weekend, while the NRLW squad are on course for a second consecutive grand final appearance after finishing fifth.

Both teams will move onto preliminary finals if they're to win.

Meanwhile, Cronulla's Jersey Flegg side are preparing to tackle the Panthers at Jubilee Stadium on Saturday for a place in the under-21 decider.

Having finished second, the Sharks earned a second chance in the playoffs – which they needed after going down to the Storm 38-10 in a grand final qualifier.

Rounding out the action, the HNWP Sharks are up against Mounties on Saturday with a spot in the grand final on the line. After missing the finals in 2024, Cronulla have rebounded to win eight matches in an 11-round regular season this year.
