NRLW Match Preview: Round 11 v Roosters

The Sharks are seeking revenge against the undefeated Roosters in what shapes as a fiery top-four clash on Thursday night.

In a must-watch grand final rematch, Cronulla will head to the Central Coast in hopes of knocking the Roosters off their perch. After falling short of a remarkable comeback victory in the 2024 decider, there is undoubtedly fire in the bellies of the runners up to clinch the two points in a heavyweight match.

A pre-season trial between the sides resulted in a 12-12 draw, and if that's any indication of what will be on display tomorrow evening, it's sure to be a spectacle.

With sudden-death finals beckoning next week, the Sharks will benefit from a stern test against the competition benchmark in preparation for a premiership tilt.

After suffering a tough 24-14 loss against the Bulldogs in Round 10, Cronulla are eager to return to winning ways and bolster their confidence.

Having navigated extreme adversity this season, including a hefty injury toll, coach Tony Herman has repeatedly praised his squad for their connection and resilience.

The Sharks will need to lean on those attributes if they're to topple the red-hot Roosters, who will welcome back captain Isabelle Kelly after she missed last week's 26-14 win over the Raiders due to an oral fracture.

For a headlining individual match-up, look no further than Cronulla's Tiana Penitani Gray and the Roosters' Jessica Sergis, who are now on opposing sides despite being teammates in NSW's victorious State of Origin campaign earlier this year.

Both centres have dominated the women's game for season upon season, highlighting why they've consistently earned the right to play at the highest level.

Another five-star showdown looms between locks Brooke Anderson and Olivia Kernick. Roosters star Kernick has levelled up her game over the past two seasons, being awarded the Dally M Medal in 2024, while Anderson has been an outstanding player for many years, also representing her state and country.

There's no better way to top off a ruthless regular season than with a blockbuster match between rival clubs on Thursday night. Kick-off is scheduled at 7.45pm in Gosford, with the match to be broadcast live on 9, 9 Now, Foxtel and Kayo.
