The southern Sydney derby is set to reignite when the Sharks host the Dragons in the opening game of Round 15.

Both teams are coming off last-start losses, with Cronulla falling to the Warriors and St George Illawarra defeated by the Dolphins.

The Sharks currently sit fifth on the ladder just above a mid-tabled logjam and are eager to solidify their place in the top eight.

The Dragons are down in 11th but are one of six teams on 14 points and are level with the seventh-placed Dolphins.

The clash between the two rivals is always hotly contested, however Cronulla have had the better of their rivals in recent times.

The Sharks have claimed nine-straight and 11 of their last 12, while St George Illawarra haven't won at Sharks Stadium since 2018.

Dragons: No further game day changes for the Red V after local junior Nick Tsougranis came into the squad on Wednesday to make his NRL debut at centre. Emre Guler will start at prop after being 18th man against the Dolphins and Luciano Leilua starts in the back row in place of Raymond Faitala-Mariner (illness).
