Inclusion on show with Stellar pre-game performance

In celebration of Sharks Have Heart Round, disability support clients from Stellar Experiences will join the Minespec Parts Mermaids for a special pre-match performance on Saturday night.

After refining their dance routine for more than two months, the exceptional Stellar Mermaids will take centre stage alongside Cronulla's cheer squad before the Round 14 Sharks-Warriors NRL match at Sharks Stadium.

The performance is one of several heartwarming game-day activations slated this weekend to mark Sharks Have Heart Round, an annual acknowledgement of the Cronulla club's deep community ties through its charitable foundation.

The partnership between the Sharks and Stellar Experiences, with the support of Quest Apartment Hotels, reinforces the focus on inclusion and belonging. 

"Stellar Mermaids is a 10-week program where guests come to learn the skills to become just like a Mermaid on game day," said Stellar Experiences' Keely Jamieson, a professional dancer who leads the Stellar Mermaids.

"When they come to this program, they feel confident, they improve their quality of movement and they're included in the community at the Sharks."

"Stellar Experiences aims to break down barriers for people living with a disability," added Kerela Gallagher, Sydney Area Manager for Stellar Experiences.

Stellar Mermaid Natayla is looking forward to lighting up Sharks Stadium.

"I've learnt a lot of stuff. Different combos, different dances," she said. "I'm feeling quite calm, confident and I'm so excited for this experience."

NRLW and NSW State of Origin star Emma Verran, who is also the club's Equal Access Program Lead, said inclusion is a core value for the Sharks.

"The Sharks are committed to making all aspects of rugby league, including cheerleading, accessible and enjoyable for everyone," Verran said.

"We're proud to partner with Stellar Experiences to break barriers and show the power of inclusion. The fans at the game on Saturday are in for a real treat!"
