The Newtown Jets are out to arrest a two-game slide when they face the Raiders at Henson Park on Saturday afternoon.

Meanwhile, Cronulla's Jersey Flegg team will enjoy a competition-wide bye round after posting a sixth consecutive win against St George Illawarra on the weekend.

Newtown, the defending Knock-On Effect NSW Cup premiers, suffered back-to-back losses for the first time on Sunday, going down to the Dragons 34-4. The Jets have felt the flow-on effect of injuries in the NRL while also losing the likes of Kade Dykes (ruptured patellar tendon), Liam Ison (ACL) and Mawene Hiroti (MCL).

After showcasing impressive form at Jersey Flegg level, emerging Sharks playmaker Riley Pollard will start at five-eighth in place of Khaled Rajab.

The Jets now sit in fourth spot, with a win against Canberra to be crucial in helping them stay ahead of the chasing pack. The Panthers, Bulldogs and Roosters are all just two competition points behind the George Ndaira-coached side.

While the Raiders are ranked eighth with three fewer wins than Newtown, they recorded a thumping 42-14 victory when the teams met in Round 5.
