NRL Match Preview: Round 10 v Sea Eagles

Only a month after taking the points in Perth, the Sharks will again meet the Sea Eagles in an absorbing Sunday afternoon encounter at 4 Pines Park to complete Women in League Round.

Cronulla triumphed 24-18 at Optus Stadium in April, striking the front late in the first half and never ceding the lead to retain the Steve Rogers Memorial Trophy.

The Sharks (sixth) have since won two of three games, responding to a golden-point loss to Wests Tigers with a strong Magic Round victory over the Eels.

Manly (seventh) are coming off a bye after beating the Panthers 26-10 at their last start with mercurial fullback Tom Trbojevic back from a knee injury.

While Cronulla's overall 30% win rate versus Manly is their lowest against any team, they've won six of the past eight clashes with their northern beaches rivals.

In each of those games the Sharks have produced at least 20 points, with another high-scoring contest on the cards if the weather gods produce a dry track.

Previously somewhat of a bogey ground, Cronulla have won three on the trot at 4 Pines Park including a 40-20 victory to conclude the regular season last year.

In selection news, injury has forced one change for the Sharks with utility Daniel Atkinson recalled to the bench in place of Siosifa Talakai (concussion protocols).

Coach Craig Fitzgibbon has otherwise retained the same side that defeated the Eels last Friday as Cronulla continue their push towards the top four.

Meanwhile, Manly's line-up will be bolstered by the returns of winger Jason Saab (ankle) and front-rower Jake Trbojevic (concussion protocols).

Sharks fullback Will Kennedy was immense against the Sea Eagles last time, scoring a sensational solo try and having another overturned in a performance that helped catapult him to the top of the Dally M Medal leaderboard.

Kennedy, who boasts three tries in his past four appearances, will again look to torment Manly's defence with his instinctive running game.

His opposite number Tom Trbojevic didn't feature in the Western Australia match. The representative star brings a new dimension to Manly's attack, underlining his worth with a try assist and 180 run metres against the Storm in Round 8.

With a stellar Magic Round display, Cronulla halfback Nicho Hynes now leads the league for both try assists (10) and line-break assists (14). Sea Eagles No.7 Daly Cherry-Evans – a mentor for Hynes – has posted six and five comparatively.

Expect fireworks if the halves find their rhythm in sunny conditions.

Up front, Sharks enforcer Addin Fonua-Blake will play in front of a Brookvale crowd that used to cheer his name during a stint at Manly from 2016-20. He'll go head-to-head with his ex-Warriors teammate Jazz Tevaga, who will start at lock.

Kick-off is at 4.05pm AEST. Catch the action on Nine, Nine Now, Foxtel and Kayo.
