With Braydon Trindall injured, Blayke Brailey has been named at halfback for Friday night's match against the Titans on the Gold Coast.
The flow-on effect will see captain Cameron McInnes shift to Brailey's usual position of hooker, with Jack Williams moving from the interchange to lock.
After making his long-awaited first-grade debut against the Cowboys in Round 21, dummy-half Jayden Berrell has been included on the bench alongside front-rower Tom Hazelton, who is set to return after a week on the sidelines with a foot issue.
However, fellow prop Braden Hamlin-Uele is being rested with knee soreness.
While Trindall's absence due to a low-grade hamstring strain is a blow, Brailey played much of his juniors in the halves and successfully filled in at halfback when Nicho Hynes was a late withdrawal against the Storm earlier this season.
McInnes is well acquainted with the hooking role, having started his career as a No.9 before transitioning to a full-time running forward upon joining Cronulla in 2022.
Kick-off at Cbus Super Stadium is at 6pm. Catch the action live on Foxtel and Kayo.
