Junior Reps Finals Week One: Sharks through to GF qualifiers

Cronulla's Harold Matthews and Tarsha Gale teams are through to grand final qualifiers after respectively defeating the Roosters and Indigenous Academy at Leichhardt Oval on Sunday.

For the second time in a fortnight, the under-17 Harold Matthews boys remarkably rallied back from an 18-point deficit – having trailed 22-4 at halftime – to stun the Roosters with a 30-22 victory. Lock Tom Dellow bagged two tries.

In repeating their sensational Round 9 effort against the Tricolours, the Brad Kelly-coached side enhanced their burgeoning reputation as the comeback kings. They will face Western Suburbs next weekend for a place in the decider.

The under-19 Tarsha Gale girls downed the Roosters' Indigenous Academy 24-6 to cap off a wonderful afternoon for the club's NSWRL Junior Representative outfits.

Cronulla led 6-0 after a tough first half but pulled clear in the second term, sealing the result with tries to Ariana Harden and Koreti Leilua in the last 10 minutes.

Isaac Michael's troops will meet the undefeated Illawarra Steelers, who they played in the last round of the regular season, in the preliminary final on Saturday.

The match is set to be played at Leichhardt Oval with kick-off at 2pm.
