Flegg Sharks share the points

In control for most of the match, a last minute try and sideline conversion has resulted in the Jersey Flegg Sharks sharing the points with Souths after the two teams battled to a 20-all draw in their round six clash.

The Sharks led entering the closing stages of the contest until the last ditch Rabbitohs try, with the one point from the draw coming on the back of consecutive losses by the under-21 Cronulla side.

The teams both scored four tries each, the Sharks' points coming from a try scoring double to Te Wehi Waitere in the first half, followed by four pointers to Dylan Coutts and Kristian Dixon in the second period.

While the Rabbitohs were first on the board through back-to-back tries in the opening 10 minutes, it would be the Sharks to take a lead to half time, the Waitere tries and a Dixon conversion making it 10-8 at the break.

Souths answered in the early exchanges after half time in going out to a 14-10 lead, before the two Sharks tries appeared to give them a match-winning advantage before the last ditch Rabbitohs try.

The Flegg Sharks are level with four teams on five competition points and sit in 11th position on percentages.

The young Sharks are next in action when they play the Manly Sea Eagles next Sunday in the curtain-raiser to the Sharks v Cowboys NRL clash. Kick-off to that match is at 1.50pm.
