Madimack 'Power Players' - Round 27

We take a look at some of the stats, crunch the numbers, and reveal the Madimack 'Power Players' from our Round 27 clash with the Raiders.

NICHO HYNES

There were question marks hanging over Nicho Hynes heading into the clash. with what sort of performance we'd get in his return from a quad strain, but didn't he put the doubters to bed.

Hynes was in everything, getting his hands on the ball across both sides of the field, busy in defence.

Hynes finished the afternoon with179 run metres with three line break assists, four try assists, a forced top out and 20 tackles to his name.

JESSE RAMIEN

Sharks centre Jesse Ramien has been one of the most consistent performers over the last month of football, with Sunday afternoon at home no different.

Ramien was strong with every carry, proving a handful for the Raiders defence as he worked his way to a double century in run metres, with 11 tackle breaks and 63 post-contact metres to his name.

Ramien capped off his night with a nice line break and try off the back of Connor Tracey digging deep into the line and providing the final pass.

That makes it 5 tries from his last 5 matches at PointsBet Stadium.

JACK WILLIAMS

Jack Williams has been strong off the bench all season, with the last month or so especially impressive for the Sharks.

On Sunday against the Raiders, Williams was on the field for 47 minutes and provided the perfect impact the Sharks needed.

Williams carried for 147 metres, 51 of those post-contact, with 5 tackle breaks and some fancy footwork to wrong foot Raiders fullback Jordan Rapana on his way to a cracking try.

In defence, Williams was rock solid and bruising. He finished the night with 32 tackles.

CONNOR TRACEY

A shining light for the Sharks at fullback since the loss of regular starter Will Kennedy, Connor Tracey has made the number one jersey his own.

Against the Raiders on Sunday Connor stepped up and put in another good showing.

His trademark tough carries to get the Sharks sets started in style were once again on show, with Tracey toiling on his way to 191 run metres with two tackle breaks.

Crafty with the ball, Tracey was digging deep into the line, keeping the Raiders constantly on the back foot. He was rewarded for his efforts, providing the final pass for a nice try to Ramien in which he cruised through the defensive line.

On the other side of the ball Connor made all 6 of his tackles, some one on one efforts keeping the Sharks in the game as the last line of defence.

The Sharks will be sweating on the fitness of their fullback ahead of week one of the Finals, with Connor leaving the field with a knee injury 10 minutes from time.

WHAT'S NEXT

It's do-or-die now for the Sharks with week one of the 2023 NRL Finals Series starting next weekend at home then they take on a Roosters side who snuck into the eight with a win over the Rabbitohs in Round 27.
