Flegg Sharks powering towards Finals

A dominant second half has seen the Jersey Flegg Sharks score a convincing 34-10 win over the Wests Tigers to move to third on the competition table with just one game remaining before the competition Finals.

The Sharks took a 12-6 lead to half time in the Sunday afternoon game played at Lidcombe Oval, before running away with the match in continuing their recent run of good form.

The win, their 13th of the season, saw the Cronulla side jump the Panthers and move to third, one point ahead of Penrith and four clear of the fifth-placed Storm.

The Roosters sit on top of table, the Bulldogs are second, with those positions to remain the same regardless of the last round results.

Against the Tigers it was the Sharks who posted first points, winger Kristian Dixon scoring and then converting his own try to give his team an early 6-0 lead.

Opposite side winger Te Wehi Waitere extended the visitors’ lead with a second Sharks try shortly after, however their opponents would respond, prop Herman Tofaeono bagged the Tigers first four-pointer with the teams going to half time at 12-6 to the Cronulla side.

In keeping up the intensity in the second period the Sharks were rewarded for their efforts, the floodgates opening, with Waitere and Dixon both collecting their second tries of the afternoon, before middle forwards Salesi Ataata and Lachlan Crouch crashed over late to cement a convincing win for the Cronulla side.

The Sharks now take on a Knights side in their last round fixture who are out of Finals contention but found some form with a big 52-10 win over Souths last weekend.
