NRLW Sharks in strong trial hit out

The NRLW Sharks crossed for four tries, while keeping their opponents scoreless in a solid trial match hit out at PointsBet Stadium earlier today.

Two four pointers from young fullback Jada Taylor, one of those a 50-metre individual effort, saw the Sharks beat the Wests Tigers 22-0 in what will be a shot of confidence ahead of their season-opening match on July 23.

Managing to get game time for all 23 of the fit players in his squad, with only experienced middle forward Hollie Wheeler unavailable and on the injured list, the Sharks scored three first half tries, with Tayla Preston successful in converting two of those, in taking the Cronulla side to the break up by 16-0.

Taylor scored her second shortly after half time in cleaning up a Tigers error following a kick from near the line, with the Sharks defending their lead and keeping their line intact in a strong defensive performance.

For the Sharks Emma Tonegato at five eighth was dangerous during her stint on the field, Brooke Anderson was busy both as a lock and when deputising for Quincy Dodd late in the match at hooker, while Harata Butler made a number of powerful charges when injected into the game from the interchange bench in backing up the good work of the starting front rowers.

Another to impress in her first game in Sharks colours was Annessa Biddle, the young winger carrying the ball strongly throughout, while also doing her job on the defensive end of the field.

In another a positive to come from the match the Sharks came through injury free, with coach Tony Herman now having two weeks to put the finishing touches on his teams preparations before their round one match against the Raiders on Sunday, July 23.

That game will be played at PointsBet Stadium as the prelude to the Sharks v Manly NRL clash, with tickets expected to sell fast and those looking to support the Cronulla girls in their season-opener encouraged to purchase early to avoid disappointment.
