Madimack 'Power Players' - Round 18

It was an absolute demolition in the local derby, with the Sharks scoring their most points ever against arch rivals St George Illawarra in a 52-16 thumping at PointsBet Stadium on Thursday night.

We take a look at the most efficient performers, the Madimack 'Power Players', for the Sharks.

MATT MOYLAN

Matt Moylan put in one of his best performances of the year against the Dragons, and it all began in the eighth minute when he put Nicho Hynes through a gaping hole to post first points for the Sharks.

Moylan was dangerous with every touch. His silky hands on show and that big left foot step proving too hard to handle for some Dragons defenders.

Moylan's boot was another weapon in attack, providing a try for centre Jesse Ramien in the 32nd minute off an absolute dime. Moylan's kick was pinpoint and Ramien's aerial skills spectacular. One of the best plays of the night.

Moylan would finish the match with 131 run metres, three line break assists, four try assists, a line break and 15 tackles.

NICHO HYNES

Not to be outdone by his halves partner, the reigning Dally M winner Nicho Hynes got in on the action against the Dragons as well.

His night kicked off in the eighth minute when he ran a beautiful angle off the Moylan short ball to cross for a four-pointer.

Hynes controlled the game for the Sharks with three try assists, three line break assists, 135 run metres and a personal haul of 20 points.

SIFA TALAKAI

Our barnstorming centre was back at his best on Thursday night.

We all know what he can do when he tucks it under the arm and muscles up the field for his usual 100 plus metres per game, but what we really love is when Sifa's putting his full array of skills on show for the Sharks faithful at home.

He had kicks, he had hits, he had try assists, and all the while still clocking in another 140 run metres to his 2023 tally.

Talakai was rewarded for his efforts on the night as he barged his way to the line in the 68th minute, before he turned provider with a deft grubber kick for Ronaldo Mulitalo to grab his second.

Talakai finished the night with three line break assists, two try assists, four tackle breaks and a try to go along with his 140 run metres.

TOM HAZLETON

The NRL's newest cult hero Tom Hazleton gave Sharks fans plenty to shout about in his 28-minute stint in the derby.

Hazelton's hard ball running and busy defensive efforts rewarded with his second NRL try, in almost the exact same fashion he scored his first the week prior.

Providing plenty of impact from the bench, Hazleton would finish the night with 109 run metres, 28 of those post-contact, with 13 tackles and a try to his name.

But it's not just on the field where big Tommy causes a stir, as the headed to the pine for a well earned rest the crowd at PointsBet Stadium let the 'Tommy' chant roar.

WILL KENNEDY

Another outstanding night for Sharks fullback Will Kennedy who is cementing his place as one of the premier fullbacks of the competition.

Kennedy was chiming in on both sides of the field, strong and elusive during Cronulla's attacking raids, with his raw pace on show when he burnt down the sideline and past the Dragons defence to score his 13th try of the season.

Kennedy finished the night with a mammoth 225 run metres, 5 tackle breaks,a line break and a try.
