The bye week gave the Jets the chance to rest up, refresh and reflect on the first half of the 2023 KOE NSW Cup season, with the Newtown team back in action this week when they play the competition-leading Bears in a match to be played at North Sydney Oval on Sunday.
The Jets went into their bye week following a narrow 24-23 loss to the Roosters, however they remained in third position on the competition ladder, just one point behind joint leaders the Bulldogs and this week’s opponent the North Sydney Bears.
While the Newtown side had the week off, the Bears went down to the Blacktown Workers Sea Eagles in something of an upset last weekend in their round 14 match.
On Sunday the two teams play for the Frank Hyde Cup, with the Bears winning the most recent encounter against the Jets back in round nine by 29-28.
