Flegg Sharks falter with loss to Roosters

The Jersey Flegg Sharks have gone down by 35-14 to the Sydney Roosters in a top of the table clash played at Wentworth Park on Sunday.

In a game matching one against two on the under-21 ladder, the Sharks were on the back foot early and never recovered, the loss seeing them slip just one spot as they now sit third behind the Roosters and Bulldogs at the halfway point of the season.

The Sharks were slow out the blocks, the Roosters scoring three times in the opening 15 minutes opening up a 16-0 advantage, before two tries to the Cronulla side, the first to winger Kristian Dixon, the second by centre Noah Lester, and at 16-8 at the half time break the visiting Sharks were back in the contest.

The Sharks battled hard in the opening exchanges of the second period, however errors and ill discipline gifted their opponents opportunity, which they took advantage of, three tries in 10 minutes seeing the game get away at 28-8 Roosters, did enough to finish the job and secure the win.

Sharks backrower Henry O’Kane scored a consolation try for his team late in the match.

Now with eight win and three losses following 11 matches played, the Flegg Sharks turn their attention to a game against the Wests Tigers on Saturday night. The match will be the curtain-raiser to the Sharks v Broncos NRL match.
