Madimack 'Power Players' - Round 5

It was a disappointing Sunday afternoon in the Shire, as the Sharks let slip a solid lead to fall to the Warriors in round five.

Despite the result, there were some efforts worth noting, which we take a look at in our Madimack Power Players of the week.

Will Kennedy

Continuing with his solid start to 2023, fullback Will Kennedy was once again a shining light in the round five clash.

Finishing the afternoon with 151 metres, two line break assists and two try assists to go along with his own line-break and try, Kennedy’s consistency to open the year has been impressive.

Across the opening five rounds Kennedy is averaging 157 run metres per game and has already notched himself six tries and 13 tackle breaks.

Braden Hamlin-Uele

Somewhat a quiet-achiever to start the year, Braden Hamlin-Uele put in a solid performance in his 40-minute stint against the Warriors pack.

Hamlin-Uele’s stat line from the afternoon read 137 metres, with 52 of those post-contact, 3 tackle breaks and a line break to go with his 20 tackles made.

Across the opening five rounds in defence, Hamlin-Uele has already made 102 tackles at an efficiency of 96.2%, whilst averaging 117 run metres in attack. He’s also broken 13 tackles and ran for 229 post-contact metres.

He might not be playing big minutes, but he certainly is making his prescence felt when he’s on the field.

Jesse Ramien

Arguably his most complete performance so far this season, Jesse Ramien was busy in both attack and defence.

Clocking up a huge 208 metres during the match, 76 of those post-contact, Ramien proved a handful for both the Warriors defence and attack with six tackle breaks and 20 tackles added to his name.

The Sharks will look for this form to continue as they head out of the bye and into a round seven clash with the Roosters, where Ramien will most likely match up against NZ international, Joseph Manu.

Next Up

The Sharks have the Bye this week but will come off feeling fresh against a red-hot Roosters outfit in round seven.

The clash is scheduled for a 6:00pm kick off at PointsBet Stadium, with another bumper crowd on the cards make sure you secure your tickets today to ensure you don’t miss out!
