Following an impressive start to their campaign, one which included strong wins over the Rabbitohs and Eels, the Newtown Jets hit a hurdle last Sunday in going down to the Canberra Raiders in what was their first loss of the 2023 season.
In a match that was certainly there for the taking, the Jets efforts were hampered by errors and ill discipline as they let the Raiders off the hook, however they will look to get back to work this weekend in a match against St George Illawarra to be played as a curtain-raiser to the Sharks v Dragons NRL clash at Oki Jubilee on Sunday.
Again the Jets have named a team with a large contingent of Sharks NRL contracted players, including amongst them fullback Mawene Hiroti, who was amongst his team’s best in the Canberra loss, along with Sam Stonestreet, Kayal Iro, Daniel Atkinson and Niwhai Puru.
The Jets v Dragons Knock On Effect NSW Cup match is scheduled for a 3.55pm kickoff at Oki Jubilee on Sunday. See their team listed below.
