His is an NRL journey that began at the Sharks, detoured for a season to Newcastle, before Jesse Ramien returned to the Shire and the Cronulla club, with the now 25 year-old set to reach a memorable milestone this weekend.
Originally from western NSW, Ramien played through the junior system at the Sea Eagles, before joining the Sharks and making his NRL debut in round 26 of the 2017 season, with the hard running centre to bring up his 100th top grade game when his team tackles the Raiders on Sunday.
After playing 21 games through 2017 and 2018 at the Sharks, Ramien left for the Knights in 2019, playing 17 games and scoring seven tries for the Newcastle club.
Returning to the Sharks in 2020, Ramien has since cemented a regular position in the Cronulla backline, while establishing himself as one of the elite outside backs in the NRL.
He has played 82 NRL games at the Sharks, scoring 34 tries.
While putting team success ahead of individual accolades, Ramien was still proud to tick off his first significant NRL milestone.
“I always dreamed of playing one (NRL) game, let alone 100, so I can't wait for this weekend and to get out there with the boys,” Ramien said. "Hopefully it's the first milestone of a few more.
"We've got a good group here at the Sharks, I'm looking forward to the year ahead and to seeing what we can do," he added.
A proud Wiradjuri man, Ramien has also represented the Indigenous team in the 2020, 2021 and 2022 All Stars matches.
