A school offering a unique schooling and sports experience, one with a close association with the Sharks, Endeavour Sports High School is holding an Open Night for current Year 6 students interested in attending and being a part of the rugby league program in 2024.

Endeavour’s affiliation with the Sharks extends over two decades, with current NRL squad members Will Kennedy and Teig Wilton amongst former students, with the Open Night scheduled for this Tuesday, February 7, from 6pm until 8pm.

The rugby league program and entry requirements will be explained and presented, with questions and enquiries to be addressed.

While in emphasising the link between the Sharks and Endeavour, their two most senior rugby league program coaches in Dave Howlett and Brad Kelly currently coach the Sharks SG Ball and Matthews Cup teams.

Kelly is back this season to coach the Matthews Cup squad in 2023 after he helped to guide the under 17 Sharks through to the Grand Final last year, with Howlett looking after this year’s under-19’s SG Ball team.

Howlett was in charge of the competition winning SG Ball Sharks in 2015, as well as the Cronulla Jersey Flegg team which claimed the 2018 NSWRL title. Howlett also had a two-year stint as an NRL Assistant Coach at the Sharks before returning to Endeavour.

In addition to the current senior Sharks squad members, other NRL players to have attended Endeavour and to have represented the schools rugby league program include Alex Johnston, Shaun Lane, Reece Robson, Scott Sorensen, Luciano Leilua, Paul Momirovski and Martin Taupau.

As Howlett explains, while much emphasis is placed developing athletes, schooling remains the number one priority, with Endeavour Sports High's Expectations Policy ensuring students are performing academically in order to participate fully in their chosen sport.

"While the Rugby League program is a significant part of the schooling experience, at Endeavour Sports High School education always comes first," Howlett said. "Students are supported with both their studies and sport in a caring and nurturing environment, geared to bring out the best in each individual."

The Open Night will be conducted at Endeavour Sports High in the school hall on Tuesday night (7 February) starting at 6pm For more information call 95240615 or email endeavour-h.s[email protected]
