Hiroti to return in 2023

Outside back Mawene Hiroti will return for a fourth season at the Sharks after signing a one-year contract extension.

The 23-year-old, New Zealand born Hiroti, who has played 18 games over three years at the Cronulla club, adds depth to the Sharks backline ahead of the 2023 NRL season.

Hiroti made his NRL debut for the Rabbitohs as a teenager back in round 23 of the 2018 season, before joining the Sharks in 2020, with his best year in Cronulla colours coming in 2021 where he played 14 matches, scoring five tries.

His first game for the Sharks was in round five against St George Illawarra, with that match played at Campbelltown Stadium.

Also an accomplished goal kicker, Hiroti played a pivotal role for the Sharks NSW Cup partner club the Newtown Jets in their minor premiership winning season this year, playing centre, wing and also at fullback for the Jets during 2022.

Hiroti was a member of the 2016 Australian Schoolboys team and also represented New Zealand at Under 18s level.
