Jets Team List – Semi Final

The Newtown Jets tackle the Penrith Panthers this weekend in Knock-On Effect NSW Cup Semi Final, with the winner going through to the Grand Final.

The NSW Cup minor premiers, the Jets received a week off to rest up and recuperate last weekend, while the Panthers won their way through to the major semi-final and a match up with Newtown, following a win over the North Sydney Bears.

Backing up the success of the Sharks at the NRL level, the Jets have enjoyed an outstanding 2022 season, their 16 wins, against just four losses, seeing them finish one-point clear of the Panthers on top of the NSW Cup table.

The minor premiership came down to the last round, the Jets escaping with a 22-all draw against the Bulldogs to confirm top spot on the ladder by the narrowest of margins.

For this week’s match, the Jets will be bolstered by the return of Kade Dykes, after the talented young fullback missed two games following a call-up to the NRL, then as a result of a calf injury which has kept him sidelined for the last three weeks.

Other Sharks contracted players set to run out for the Jets will be outside backs Kayal Iro, Mawene Hiroti and Matt Ikuvalu, halfback Luke Metcalf and young forwards Jesse Colquhoun and Tom Hazelton.

Unfortunately missing for Newtown will be Jayden Berrell who is serving a one-match suspension, with his place at hooker to be taken by Rhys Davies.

While the winner goes straight through to the NSW Cup Grand Final, the loser will face the winner of the match between the Bulldogs and Bears next weekend.

The Jets v Panthers match is scheduled for a 1pm kick-off at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium on Saturday afternoon, with the Newtown team listed below.
