Finucane joins NSW Blues extended squad

True Blue Dale Finucane has joined the extended squad for the Brydens Lawyers NSW Blues fresh from Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks' 28-6 win over the Melbourne Storm at PointsBet Stadium last night.

Finucane, who has represented NSW on five occasions from 2019-21, has been brought in to replace Jacob Saifiti on the extended bench as preparations continue for Game Three of the Ampol State of Origin series at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane on Wednesday night.

Saifiti has been part of the extended squad for Game One and Game Three but has been called up to make his debut after prop Jordan McLean was forced to withdraw with a hamstring injury.

The Knights forward returned to camp today having initially left on Wednesday to prepare for the match against South Sydney Rabbitohs at McDonald Jones Stadium tonight.

North Queensland halfback Chad Townsend, who is yet to make his debut for NSW, was brought into camp on Thursday to replace 19th man Nicho Hynes after he was ruled out with COVID-19. Townsend was unable to train on Thursday due to illness but is clear to resume training tomorrow.

Saifiti will also train with the team tomorrow while a decision will be made tomorrow if Finucane is able to join them after playing on last night.
