Described by Jets coach Greg Matterson and team officials as perhaps one of their best performances of the 2022 season, the Jets braved the awful weather conditions last weekend to beat the Bulldogs and climb back into second position on the KOE NSW Cup ladder.
The Jets overcame a half time deficit to beat Canterbury 28-16 at CommBank Stadium, with Sharks half Braydon Trindall one of the stars for the Newtown side.
This week the Jets face the second of the Bulldogs two Knock-On Effect feeder teams in Mounties in a round 17 match where Newtown hope to consolidate their lofty ladder position with another win.
While Trindall hasn’t been named, with his potential late inclusion dependent upon whether he is required for the Sharks on Thursday night, the Jets welcome back the speedy Luke Metcalf who is set to partner Kade Dykes in the halves.
Recent Sharks NRL signings in young forwards Jesse Colquhoun and Tom Hazelton will also play for the Jets on Saturday afternoon, as will former Cronulla lock Billy Magoulias who has returned from a stint with Warrington in the UK SuperLeague.
The two teams have met once already this season, the Jets winning 26-12 in a match played at Henson Park.
The Jets are second, the Mounties 10th on the KOE points table, with the match to be played at the Aubrey Keech Reserve, kicking off at 3pm on Saturday.
