Sharks Women hold on to take down Tigers

The Harvey Norman Women’s Premiership Sharks have held on to claim a hard-fought 20-16 win over the Wests Tigers in their round 5 match played on Monday night.

Played at the NSWRL Centre of Excellence, the Sharks led 12-6 at half time, went up by 20-10 midway through the second half, but were then forced to fight for the two competition points when the Tigers closed within four points with still seven minutes of the match remaining.

On a bitterly cold night the Sharks girls did enough over the closing moments to record a fourth win from five matches in 2022 as they remained in second position behind the North Sydney Bears on the HNWP competition table.

The Sharks were led by two tries to hard-working backrower Talei Holmes, who after being chosen in the extended NSW Sky Blues Origin squad is in line to make her senior representative debut in the Women’s Origin match on June 24.

Young Sharks outside backs Andie Robinson and Zali Fay were the other scorers for the Sharks.

The Sharks women have a bye in round 6.
