Wilton accepts one week suspension

Teig Wilton, the Sharks try scoring hero from their win over the Eels, has accepted an early plea on a dangerous contact charge and will miss his team’s local derby clash against the Dragons on Thursday night.

Wilton was charged with grade two dangerous contact for a tackle on Parramatta playmaker Mitchell Moses in the 54th minutes of the match, with the penalty one game for an early plea and two were he to challenge and fail to have the charge downgraded or dismissed at a judiciary hearing.

The one-week suspension comes as disappointment for Wilton following on from the high of scoring the match-winner over the Eels in what was an impressive overall performance from the young backrower.

With Wade Graham still sidelined with an ankle problem, Siosifa Talakai becomes the logical replacement for Wilton, although it is expected that Jack Williams will also be available for selection having recovered from a knee injury and has experience playing both in the middle of the field and as an edge backrower.

The Sharks team to play the Dragons on Thursday night will be named tomorrow.
